Nkup Gabriel Tsenyen was born to the family of the Late MiskoomMbangTsenyenSuman and Mrs. GonaTsenyen of Ngotugu’ut, Dorok District in Shendam Local Government Area of Plateau State on the 5th December, 1965.
Inspired by the Catholic Missionaries, particularly by the Late Bishop of JosDiocese, His Grace, Bishop Gabriel GonsumGanaka, who baptized and named the young Tsenyen after himself. Gabriel embraced the opportunity for education with both hands, starting the pursuit of knowledge at St. Thomas RCM Primary School, Ngotugu’ut, where he was between 1972 and 1979, under the tutelage of the Late Mr. Simon Saje who as Headmaster, took particular interest in the promising shepherd boy, supported him through school leading him to obtain the primary school leaving certificate. He proceeded to Government Secondary School Shendam on the Scholarship of Miskoom. John D. Ahmadu in 1979 and left in 1983, having obtained the General certificate of Education, (GCE) from where he moved to SPS, Keffi (1985), leaving with the IJMB Certificate.
In 1985, he was admitted to study law at the University of Jos, graduating in 1988, to proceed to the Nigerian Law School, where he was between 1988 and 1989, upon which he was called to the Nigerian Bar and became a Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 1990 June.
Gabriel Tsenyen’s working experience has been as rich and variegated as his life. He kick-started his legal practice with the National Youth Service with the Nigerian Railway Corporation Headquarters Ebute Meta, Lagos in 1989, where he worked on as Legal Officer till October 1991, when he resigned to work as Head of Chambers with Anthony Akika& Co (Legal Practitioners), where he was between 1991 and 1993, from where he joined the North – South Bank Lagos as Legal Officer, He rose to the level of Acting Company Secretary/Legal Adviser between 1994 and 1996. About the same period, 1991 -1996 he was the pioneer Secretary of his tribal association Gamai Unity and development Organization (GUDO) Lagos Branch. He was shipping clerk, NMA (National Maritime Authority) Liaison officer and Legal Adviser to Schenker International Limited, Lagos between 1996 and 1998.
He went into full time legal practice in late 1998, as Principal Partner Homsem Chambers, Lagos, before pitching tent with Capt. Cosmas Niagwan, first as Legal adviser and Solicitor to the Liquidator, Nigerian National Shipping Line, Lagos. He became a Senior Legislative Aide to Sen. Capt Cosmas Niagwan at the National Assembly, Abuja, working with him from June 2003 to October, 2005.
He has since return to legal practice as an Associate Partner of T.B Maiyaki& Co. A consummate believer in the equality of all, his passion and commitment to the people of his Constituency and the State led to his teaming up with other like – minded people in the Action Congress – to build democracy forever.
Having benefited from the kindness and support of people like Late Rev Father John Moore (Bishop of Bauchi), Late Stephen Keyen and Late Mr. ShaanjapHamna’an through Primary education, Barrister Tsenyen never shies away from rendering support to people in need, knowing how crucial whatever form of assistance might mean in changing the life of the needy for good. This motivated him incorporate the Gabriel Tsenyen Foundation to facilitate his effort at giving back to his immediate constituents.
With experience gained far and wide, contacts with the right people, factored on his long stay in Lagos and educational background, Gabriel TsenyenPASSION for his people is the motivation for humbly putting himself forward for service to seek nomination of the AC in 2007 for the Plateaus State House of Assembly Shendam Constituency, the APC for the House of Representatives for the SHENDAM-MIKANG-QUAN/PAN Federal Constituency of Plateau State in 2015.
His objective is to make available to his people the benefit of his exposure, education and experience. Gabriel Tsenyen is onetime Legal Adviser of the Gamai Unity and development Organization, Former Chairman of NBA Shendam Branch, Member of the Nigerian Bar Association, Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Two Time Secretary and President of the Rotary Club of Wuse Central Abuja, former State Assistant Legal Adviser APC Plateau State.
